Welcome back!

Welcome back to all of our pupils with SEND, we hope you have all had a good summer. It has been lovely to see the children return to school this week and we have all been impressed with the resilience they have shown in adapting to the new rules and routines in school.

For those of you with children that were invited into school on the inset days for a transition visit; thank you for your support. Under normal circumstances would would have enjoyed welcoming you and your children together, but it was fantastic to see how the children entered the building independently. We hope that it helped to reduce the anxiety for some when they came into school on Monday.

We all understand that for some children the lockdown period has caused some changes in behaviour. Please rest assured that as a school we have made the wellbeing of the children our main focus for the first few weeks and the academic work will resume slowly. The children are being given a lot of opportunities to explore their emotions and feelings as well as working on social interactions. It has been lovely to see a lot of exciting outdoor learning taking place.

The Just One Norfolk website is a good place to go to for information and support for all areas of children's development.

The SENDIASS website is also a good source of information and advice for parents. The video on their homepage gives a clear overview of the support they can offer.

Please be aware that we are currently in the process of reviewing and planning for our school Nurture sessions to begin. As some children have had a prolonged period away from school and in some cases their needs have changed dramatically, the same children will not automatically be offered nurture sessions. The nurture team will be talking to teachers and discussing the children they feel would benefit from their support. The sessions will be tailored to the children, some working in groups and some working 1:1 and they will range from emotional support, anger management and social interaction. If the teacher feels that your child would benefit from nurture, the nurture team will contact you.
